Heartleaf (scientifically known as houttuynia cordata) is a flavonoid and flowering plant native to Southeast Asia. Due to its antioxidant, anti-bacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties, Heartleaf is traditionally used for medicinal purposes in North-East India and China. Raw leaves and extracts from the plant are consumed to purify the blood and relieve inflammatory conditions in the body. Because of its soothing and anti-inflammatory properties, heartleaf is often incorporated into skincare products like facial masks, toners, and creams to calm and detoxify irritated skin. Also, the leaf extract also has astringent properties that can effectively (but gently) deep cleanse pores, while regulating excess sebum production.
